This is something I've been thinking a lot about over the past couple of years, since becoming a mentor to some apprentices within my day job.

Mentoring comes as part of the package when you move up the career ladder. But often we don't get training, or wider support... or even the time.

Being a GOOD mentor is more than just sharing your knowledge and experience.

What are those extra things?
And how do we achieve them?

A good mentor wears many hats; teacher, guide, peer, friend, guru, role model, and many more. I hope these tips help you develop those mentoring muscles.

The rewards of mentoring are enormous, I've only been doing it for about a year, but I'm always excited to see and hear about how the apprentices in my team are growing and developing their own career path.

I'm looking forward to many more years of mentoring in my future - where I can weave these tips into my daily practices.
