7 Tips to Create Game-Changing Content for Your Business
inspired by a YouTube video by The Futur & Ted Sim
How do you create effective content marketing?
Although I’m not in the business of creating video content (yet!), I found these seven tips really interesting.
Since founding NSC, I’ll definitely use and share these principles wherever I can.
Hopefully these notes inspire you to do the same!
Also, remember this one thing about marketing from Seth Godin:
"It is a chance to serve... Be generous in the act of helping others achieve their goals."
Perceptual Mapping
by Me
Don’t forget to check out my article on Perceptual Mapping here, which is based on these nudenotes.
Here’s the introduction from that blog to whet your appetite:
Perceptual maps form a small part of a larger process of developing products, brands and services for consumers. This technique can be a tricky to master, but can be an effective tool for all creative professionals to help you understand where your product/brand sit amongst your competition from (and this is the important bit) your consumers’ perspective. If this technique is used correctly, it can be a powerful tool which can unearth opportunities and unseen insights.
This technique of analysis can be used as valuable part of a kick-off session of a new brand or product, and it can also be used to show the transition visually in a rebrand, new product launch or repositioning project.
The main goal of these maps is to help gain a better understanding of consumers’ perception of your ideas and solutions in order to help deliver a solution that resonates with your target audience on a deeper level. Therefore, they get the best experience and value from your creative solutions.
As always with my nudenote-based articles, there’s a mini graduation present: a link to a high-resolution PDF of my nudenotes I made in preparation for writing the blog.
It also includes some of the call-out images used in the article.
There are no catches, it’s a completely free resource for you to use as a reference whenever you need it.
Features Vs. Benefits
I have spent a great deal of time gathering research from various sources and distilled it into these two glorious sketchnote spreads.
Customers don’t understand or care about all the time and effort that we, as designers and engineers, spend on crafting a new feature.
They just wan solutions to their problems.
Customers don’t relate to facts and features they relate to story and emotions or benefits — they simply aren’t supposed to.
Understanding these principles is key to:
a) understanding your consumers better;
b) creating better design briefs;
c) more empathic communications; and, ultimately,
d) increasing sales.
Sell with benefits. Support with features.
I really enjoyed making these self-directed notes, so I will definitely be working on more in the future.
Key takeaway:
There is a lot of information crammed into this spread of nudenotes, but don’t panic!
I have written a more in-depth article about Features Vs. Benefits which you can read here.
